Athletic Training
Jeremy Herniman has been certified as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association for over 17 years. In addition, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (through the National Strength and Conditioning Association) and is also a Concussion Management Specialist. He joined UR Medicine Thompson Health in 2010. He is currently enjoying his 12th year as the Canandaigua Academy athletic trainer. He is proud to be a part of the Braves family and works with our teams in all seasons.
Jeremy is present at the Academy three days per week and you will see him on the sidelines at most home events. He is responsible for injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. Athletic trainers make up an integral part of the sports medicine team, and provide a key link between athletes, parents, coaches, athletic directors, nurses and physicians. In addition to providing office hours and game coverage, Jeremy also does all ImPACT testing for the school in regards to concussions.
Canandaigua Academy recently received the NATA Safe Sports School Award. This is a reflection on all the district does to keep athletes safe, and having a quality Athletic Trainer is a big part of that. If your son or daughter has an injury, please have them see Jeremy at school. If he is unavailable, please call Thompson’s Sports Medicine Department at 585-396-6050 and arrange to see one of Thompson’s athletic trainers at the Parrish Street location. This service is included as part of the contract with the school.
