When does ASH meet?

For students at the Academy, ASH meets from 6:45 am to 7:25 am OR from 2:35-3:15 pm. For middle schools students ASH meets from 2:35-3:15 pm. Students who are in ASH are required to attend Monday through Thursday.

Can a student work with a teacher after school?

Student reports to the assigned room first and then can go to work with a teacher.

What happens if a student does not attend ASH?

If the student does not attend that day, they cannot participate in the practice/ activity/ game the next day. If a student does not attend on a Thursday, they cannot participate in activities throughout the weekend.

After a student completes their blue sheet, where is it turned in?

Blue check in sheets need to be returned to Mr. Lord at CMS  or Mrs. Fisher (Academy Counseling Center, CA) by noon on the Friday of the first week of the ASH cycle. Blue sheets are only required for the first week of each cycle.

If a student cannot play, what is expected?

When a student is not eligible to participate, they are expected to attend practice or the game or the event. They are not able to participate in warm ups or any activities during the event.

Do students need to attend ASH on days there is no practice or games?

Students need to attend Monday through Thursday each week they are in ASH, even when they do not have practice or a game. Late buses are available.

Who do I contact if I have questions about ASH?

ParentSquare messages can be sent to Ashley Fisher, District ASH Coordinator or the administrators overseeing ASH, Mr. Theron Chinn (CMS) and Mr. Eric Jordan (CA).

What activities fall under these requirements?

The extra-curricular activities that fall under these rules are all sports teams, the fall play, the CMS musical, the Academy musical, and the robotics team.

• Student A is failing one class. Student A attends ASH all week and they are no longer failing that class and the grade is reported on their blue sheet.

  Do they need to attend ASH anymore?

  No - The student is no longer required to attend ASH because they are passing and they completed their blue sheet after week 1.

• Student B missed ASH on Thursday because they forgot to attend.

  Can they play in their game on Saturday?

  No - The student is ineligible to participate in their game on Saturday because they did not attend ASH on Thursday. On Friday, the family, coach, and student will receive this notification via ParentSquare. The student is expected to attend practices and games but cannot participate.

• Student C is failing a class and when completing their blue sheet, they are now passing that class but failing a different class.

  Do they need to attend ASH?

  Yes - The student needs to continue to attend ASH because they are still failing a course. They will need to attend ASH for the remainder of that ASH cycle.

If a student is failing only one course at the Academy, the family can decide to monitor the student’s progress and communicate with Ashley Fisher, Academic Study Hall Coordinator.

• The communication must be received by Ashley Fisher by noon on the Monday of the ASH period via ParentSquare.
• The student must complete the blue check in sheet after week 1 and if they are failing the same class, they are ineligible and cannot participate for the remainder of the ASH cycle.
• If the student is failing a different course after week one, they must attend ASH for the remainder of the cycle.
• If you take the opt out option and you are not able to raise your grade and become ineligible, you are not able to opt out in the future.
