Respect leads to Civility

We expect youth to show in words and action respect and civility toward themselves and others, to respect property and the laws and rules under which we live, and to grow toward civility in all interactions.

We promise to treat youth, adults, and their property with respect in word and action, and to promote and practice civility in all situations and interactions; and further, to respect the laws and rules under which we live.

Responsibility leads to Accountability

We expect youth to act responsibly and to meet the expectations of responsibility that they have as learning members of our community. We expect them to grow toward accountability for their own actions in all situations, and be able to exemplify accountability by high school age.

We promise to act responsibly with youth, toward youth, and when we represent them and their interests. We understand that we must be accountable for our own actions and in all situations, and we promise to model and sustain such accountability toward youth and adults in our community.

Honesty leads to Integrity

We expect youth to act with honesty, to tell and seek the truth in all interactions. We expect that youth shall develop the habit of honesty into full trustworthiness and integrity as they mature.

We promise to live and model a commitment to honesty and integrity toward youth and all adults in our community. We will operate our organizations and businesses and conduct our personal interactions with honesty and fairness, and expect such integrity in return.

Kindness leads to Compassion

We expect our youth to be kind and to care, to demonstrate that they care for themselves, others, our community, and the world in which they live. We expect them to grow to understand compassion and demonstrate that compassion through good works and actions.

We promise to be compassionate toward youth and to all others in our community, country, and the world. We promise to demonstrate that compassion through consistency in our personal interactions as well as, whenever possible, in wider efforts that will model compassion for our youth.

Effort leads to Perseverance

We expect youth to exert reasonable effort to accomplish tasks, whether in school, home, or community, and to develop persistence and creativity in meeting challenging situations, whether as individuals or in collaborative groups, as they face the complexity of adolescence and early adulthood.

We promise to give support and encouragement to the positive endeavors of both youth and adults in our community. We promise to celebrate perseverance in dealing with youth, our friends, and other community members, and to model perseverance and a positive attitude whenever possible.

Healthy Choices lead to Healthy Living

We expect youth to learn to make healthy choices regarding physical activity, safety, and nutrition. As they mature, we expect them to avoid drugs, including alcohol, tobacco, controlled substances, and illicit drugs, recognize and minimize involvement in dangerous situations and activities, be open with those they trust about their mental health, and commit to healthy living for a lifetime.

We promise to model and promote healthy living, particularly to our youth. We pledge to refrain from any alcohol or tobacco use while directly involved with youth and to abstain from abuse of controlled substances and any use of illegal substances. We will make every effort to display compassion toward any person in crisis or unable to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and promote healthy living as both an individual and community commitment.
