Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Tk Applications Start 3/1/25

Our Primary School is fortunate to have a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program again for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an opportunity for students to have a year of school before Kindergarten with a blend of the UPK and Kindergarten standards in order to be more prepared upon entering Kindergarten the following school year. This program also will provide additional social and emotional learning to support confidence building and fostering peer relationships.

Since we have a limited number of TK slots, not all applicants will be accepted.

Four-year-old students with birthdays from 9/1/2020 - 12/1/2020 are eligible to attend.

What are the benefits of Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?

The Transitional Kindergarten Program is a voluntary, free, full-day program designed for those students who would normally enter Kindergarten as a 4-year old.

What is the grade-level progression for students in TK?

Students would participate in Transitional Kindergarten during the 2025-26 school year, attend Kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year, and then proceed onto first grade during the 2027-2028 school year.

The TK Program offers a developmentally appropriate bridge to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of our youngest learners. Children in TK will get a significant boost in kindergarten readiness. Class sizes in TK classrooms are approximately 12 - 15 students.

What does the program include?

  • Exposure to kindergarten standards while re-visiting UPK standards.

  • Transportation

  • Specials (music, art, PE, library)

  • Breakfast, lunch, and recess

  • Social and emotional learning and development through play and interactive modeling

  • Confidence building

  • Peer relationship building

  • Exposure to foundational skills in English Language Arts and Math
