Steve is a 2008 graduate of Canandaigua Academy, where he played both volleyball and baseball. He graduated from Finger Lakes Community College in 2010, SUNY Brockport in 2012, with his Bachelors of Science in Physical Education, and received his MSEd in Athletic Administration from SUNY Brockport in 2014. Since 2015 Coach Verbridge has also served as one of the Canandaigua modified baseball coaches in the spring season. He is currently a teacher in the Waterloo Central School District.
When Steve is not coaching, he can be found not far from the sports culture, as he officiates Football, Basketball and Baseball at the high school and collegiate levels. He currently resides in Canandaigua.
Steve has been with the Boys Volleyball program since 2011. From 2011-2013 he served as the Boys Modified coach and from 2014-2016 he served as the JV coach. Since 2017 Steve has served as the varsity volunteer assistant coach.
In his current role Coach Holmes serves as Coach Verbridge’s right hand man. “Coach Holmes has been an integral part of our success since I took over the program in 2016. Steve is a superior motivator who the kids respect and follow.” Coach Verbridge continues, “Coach Holmes has a tremendous passion to not only work with kids, but to build relationships with young student athletes. He has an uncanny ability to know what button to press, and when, to make sure that all of our young men achieve their full potential, on and off the court.”
Coach Holmes was a Business Teacher for 35.5 years before retiring in 2015. He is currently a technology integrator for the Canandaigua City School District. Steve is married to wife Eileen, and has two children and two grandchildren.
Coach Chinn has coached boys and girls volleyball for 38 years. She started her career coaching at Southwestern Oregon Community College from 1977- 1978. She coached for 6 years at Umpqua Community College from 1979-1985, before moving to Canandaigua and taking over as the JV Girls volleyball coach for 2 years. In 1989 Coach Chinn took over the Canandaigua Girls Volleyball program building it into one of the most successful female sports programs at Canandaigua. Under her leadership, Canandaigua won 6 league championships, 9 sectional titles, 2 regional championships and one state championship title. She has been chosen as Coach of the Year 4 times: 1996, 2004, 2005, 2009.
Coach Chinn graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and a Masters degree in education from Colorado State University. She retired from teaching elementary physical education in 2012. Since retiring from teaching, Coach Chinn has been apart of the boys program. She coached the modified volleyball team for 3 years, 2014-16, and then moved on to coach the boys junior varsity team since 2017.

Her wealth of Volleyball knowledge and experience brings instant credibility to our program.” Coach Verbridge continues, “Her dedication is uncanny and her drive to turn the boys program into what she did with the girls program, motivates not only myself, but our student athletes as well!”
Coach Chinn resides in the Town of Canandaigua, has two sons and two grandchildren.
Coach Chapman starts his first year as the Canandaigua Boys' Modified Coach. Mr. Chapman, a social studies teacher at the Academy, coached the Varsity team for ten seasons from 2007-2016. He graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 2003 and was a member of the Varsity Volleyball and Basketball. Additionally, he is a high school and college basketball official. Coach Chapman and his wife, Caroline, have two kids.
