We are Digital Learners!
One of our biggest accomplishments this year was winning the first ever Interwrite Learning Classroom Makeover Contest. Our class' entry "Aint Gonna Hold Us Back (D-I-G-I-T-A-L) was selected as the $15,000 grandprize winner for the K-5 division beating out nearly 200 other schools from Austrailia and New Zealand. Here is some of the technology we've won! Interwrite Interactive White Board   The Interwrite Board is a large touch-controlled screen that projects the image on the computer. Students have really enjoyed learning with this digital board. This was the first interactive board installed in the Primary/Elementary building! Interwrite Pad  The Interwrite Pad is a remote bluetooth device that allows someone to write on the whiteboard without having to actually stand infront of the board. This is especially helpful in First Grade as Mr. Colosi can sit in close proximity with students without having to turn his back to the class. Interwrite Cricket PRS System (Clickers)   One of the newest trends in educational technology is the PRS (Peer Response System). An educator can create a short quiz on the computer, hand out clickers to students, and then administer that quiz to the class. iPod Listening Center  An iPod was purchased for the class with the $1,000 cash prize provided by Interwrite Learning. Many students are beginning to see the numerous ways which iPods can be utilized for educational purposes. Right now we have been using the iPod in our Listening Center to target improving student vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.
